Which score is better?
Convert your ACT with the table and compare it to your SAT. Whichever is higher is the one to send. A 1430 SAT and a 32 ACT are the same score on the concordance, so either works. Colleges that accept both don’t prefer one.
To see where a score puts you at a specific college, open its college page: each one shows the SAT and ACT range of admitted students, and the chances calculator converts your ACT for you.
Does it still work in 2026?
Yes. The ACT dropped science from the Composite in 2025, and ACT’s own research found the new three-section Composite concords with the old one point for point except at very low scores (ACT’s guidance). The digital SAT uses the same 400 to 1600 scale. No newer table has been published, so colleges still use this one.

Does this chart work for the new ACT?
Yes. ACT found that the enhanced ACT’s three-section Composite (English, math and reading) matches the old four-section Composite point for point, except at very low scores, so the 2018 concordance still applies.
Should I send the ACT or the SAT?
Send whichever score is higher after you convert it. Colleges that take both treat them the same. If they’re about equal, send both, or the one with stronger section scores for your intended major.
