Checked against pnca.willamette.edu and the Common App application on October 17, 2026

What you write: One artist statement, 250–500 words.

Write every word yourself

PNCA says AI tools can help in the writing process, but no part of the writing you submit should be generated by anything but you. Our free review only comments and never writes for you, so every change stays in your words.

Artist statement

250–500 words

Please submit an artist statement to help us determine your ability to be a successful student at PNCA. This is an opportunity for you to distinguish yourself from other applicants and to share aspects of your work that are not reflected in your portfolio. We would like to hear about your interests and concerns and how they shape the art you make as well as your goals and ambitions as a student at PNCA.

How to approach it

  • Take the question seriously enough to play with it.
  • Let your answer show how you think.
  • Keep it honest under the fun.
