What you write: One short answer, 50–150 words, plus two optional.
A mentor who inspired you
Personal attention is one of Nebraska Wesleyan's core values which inspires success in our students. Please describe a teacher, coach, or mentor who has inspired or encouraged you on your path to success.
How to approach it
- Pick one moment and stay there. Readers remember a scene, not a summary.
- Spend at least a third of the essay on what you thought and how you changed.
- Read it out loud. If a line doesn’t sound like you, it isn’t done yet.
Optional: activities at NWU
What activities are you most interested in becoming involved with at NWU?
How to approach it
- Each item should say something about you that the rest of the application doesn’t.
- Mix serious and small. A list of only big ideals reads like a poster.
- Use the exact format asked for. Don’t write sentences if it wants a list.
Optional: anything else
What additional information would you like us to know about you?
How to approach it
- Answer the exact question asked, in the first few lines.
- Use one real example instead of three general ones.
- Read it out loud before you submit.
