Colorado College supplemental essays.
The essay question Colorado College asks this year, word for word, with the word limit and how to approach it.
Checked against coloradocollege.edu on October 17, 2026
What you write: Optional. One essay, up to 300 words.
Optional: deep focus (the Block Plan)
One of the benefits of Colorado College’s Block Plan is the opportunity to immerse yourself fully in a single subject for 3.5 weeks. We see this as the luxury of focus—the joy and value of directing your full attention to one thing. Tell us about a time when you experienced this kind of deep focus in an academic or extracurricular setting. What were you doing, and how did it turn out?
You can also upload or link to what came out of it (a project, paper or performance), but you don't have to.
How to approach it
- Name things you could only find at this college: a class, a professor, a program, a tradition.
- Tie every detail to something true about you.
- Swap test: if another college’s name fits your sentence, it’s too general.
