What you want to study

Tell us more about what you’d like to study in college and why. Remember, Antioch College doesn’t offer traditional majors. Consider how your academic and personal interests might work well with our flexible, personalized self-designed major pathway. If you are unsure, tell us about the academic subjects that most interest you.

How to approach it

  • Start with the moment the interest began.
  • Show what you’ve already done about it: a class, a project, a book, a job.
  • Say where you want to take it, even if you’re not sure yet.

Why Antioch

Question 2 of 4 · 25–500 words

What aspects of the Antioch College experience prompted you to apply? Here, we are asking you to talk about specifics in the curriculum, faculty, campus life, or Co-op that most resonate with you. Base your answer on something you’ve read, a conversation you’ve had with an admissions counselor, or other research you’ve done about Antioch College.

How to approach it

  • Name things you could only find at this college: a class, a professor, a program, a tradition.
  • Tie every detail to something true about you.
  • Swap test: if another college’s name fits your sentence, it’s too general.

Hands-on learning and Co-op

Question 3 of 4 · 25–500 words

Co-ops are typically full-time, compensated work placements, but they can also be research appointments, independent work or learning, or other experience-based opportunities. Explain the value of experiential, hands-on learning in your educational journey.

How to approach it

  • Pick one activity, not your whole resume.
  • Show one moment of what you actually did.
  • Say why it matters to you, not only what it is.
